Lice Screening – Oct 15th
Essex and Hawthorne will be having a school wide lice screening conducted on the morning of October 15th by Nit Works. Thank you to both school councils for covering the cost of the screening.
Take a Recess from Making Lunches!
Essex and Hawthorne is launching our litter-free Real Food Lunch Club this month – hot, healthy, delicious lunches made fresh-from-scratch daily to fuel your kids through a busy day of learning. It will be served every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. (kids must join all three days to participate). We’ll send you registation details October 20. All Cross Country Runners
To all families of cross country runners- our meet is this Thursday October 8th at Ashbridges Bay. Please meet in the East Gym at 8:00am to sign in with your coaches, get your jerseys and competitor numbers. At 8:30 am we will leave by school bus. If you are driving your child, you still need to check in with us in the gym before departing. If you are planning to drive anyone else’s child, YOU MUST HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION from the child’s parent and submit it to the coaches.
Please remember that it is a rain or shine event and the weather can be much cooler by the lake. We recommend your child brings lots of layers so he or she can run comfortably and warm up afterwards. Also, please send a water bottle, lunch and lots of snacks as there will not be opportunities to purchase food. Your child may also want to bring a book, card game or soccer ball as there is lots of down time between races. We recommend that all electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) are left at home.
If you plan on driving your child back to school after his or her race, make sure you sign out with one of the coaches before departing. Looking forward to a great day on Thursday!
