School Network Upgrade

TDSB Field Services has scheduled our School’s network upgrade on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.  They will perform activities that include installing new network equipment, changing IP addresses, testing the new equipment and network, decommissioning the previous equipment and network, and updating documentation to reflect the changes.

Although Field Services does not anticipate it will take a full day to perform the change from the current network over to the new Bell network, they must allocate a full day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to perform the work.

On Tuesday, January 9th, the scheduled implementation day of the new Bell network, there will be no wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) network access to services including but not limited to:

·         Internet access and all applications accessible from the Internet

·         Home Drives

·         Shared Drives

·         All AW sites, ServiceIT, myINFO, GAfE, Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Hangouts, and Sheets, Chromebook/Chromebox access

·         Trillium School Information System (SIS)

·         All SAP Systems

·         SharePoint (org sites)

·         Outlook Web Access (OWA)

·         TDSB Print services

·         VPN services

If all the activities are completed ahead of the plan outage window, the school will begin enjoying the new Bell network immediately.

Downtown Vocal Music Academy Open House

Is your child passionate about singing and performing?

Are you looking for an opportunity to harness your child’s creative and dramatic potential?

Junior and Intermediate students now have another educational option in the downtown core to develop their musical talents. The Downtown Vocal Music Academy (DVMA) is a TDSB school which offers an enriched music education for students in Grades 4 to 8 who have demonstrated a passion for choral and solo singing, musical theatre, and the performing arts in general.

Students at the DVMA attend a full day programme in which they divide their time between academic classes focused on the Ontario Curriculum, Music, Choir, Dance, and Visual Arts classes that develop their creativity and performance skills. The DVMA is a performing school where the students have the opportunity to sing every day, to create and make music, and to form relationships with other students who share their interests. Students become part of a close and caring community, and a culture that balances academics with personal leadership, character development, creativity, and innovation.

Each student must complete an application and attend a singing workshop held at the school to be considered for a place at the Downtown Vocal Music Academy. Students entering Grades 4 to 8 in September of 2018 are welcome to apply for admission. More information about Downtown Vocal Music Academy can be found at our website: http://schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/downtownvma/

The DVMA will be holding an open house in early January for students and families interested in admission. The open house will be held on Thursday, January 11 at 6:30 PM. The school is located at 96 Denison Ave. Toronto, ON M5T 2N1. The open house presentation will also be posted on our website if you are unable to attend.

Applications will be available online and in person at our school from January 12, 2018 onwards.   Applications will be due on February 16, 2018. If you have any questions please contact the school at 416-393-1340 or email voicesofdvma@gmail.com.
