It’s a New Year, Come Volunteer for the Early Reading Club

Essex Grade One Teachers are still looking for parent volunteers for the Early Reading Club.  The commitment requires volunteers to read with their “reading buddy” 2-3 times per week for 30 minutes.

It is a convenient and easy way to give our students a boost:

  • Time of day is flexible (although 9:00-9:30 am often works well)
  • The Resource teacher will help you create a reading kit to suit your buddy’s level and interests.
  • Word games and leveled readers are available for you to choose from each week.
  •  Parent Council will pay for your police record check.
  • You can volunteer anywhere from 6 weeks up until the end of the year.
