Friday’s Fire Alarm

Dear Parents and Caregiver,

This is to inform you that there was a fire alarm that was set off in the Fan Room on the 2nd floor at Lunch on Friday, March 24. The alarm took place at 11:50 and the staff, students and parents moved quickly to exit the building.

The fire department arrived and did a check of the Fan Room and found nothing. Staff, students, and parents return inside the building promptly.

The fire alarm went off a second time; and, again, the staff, students, and parents exited the building quickly. Lunch resume afterward.

TDSB facilities have been contacted as to determine the cause of the fire alarm.

Thank you to staff, students and parents for their quick response to the alarm.

J. H. Quon, Principal

Brick Replacement Work w/o March 27-31

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

TDSB Facilities will be in next week to work on replacing bricks on the walls at the East side of the building. The work will take the entire week from March 27 – March 31st.

Due to the work, the area north of Exit #10 will be fenced off all around to Exit #9 from Monday – Thursday.

Exit #9 will be closed until Thursday, so Exit #10 will be the only entrance used for entry and exit until Thursday.

Students will still have access to a portion of the Primary playground and structure during recess and outdoor play.

On Friday, the east wall that is in the Kindergarten Playground will be fenced off so there will be no access to this area for the day.

The staff will be speaking with students and parents about the alternate arrangements to accommodate this facility work.

Thanking you in advance for your understanding of the brick replacement work.

Essex-Indigo FlipGive Fundraising Update

We are thrilled to announce that the Indigo FlipGive Fundraiser, held during December 2016, raised $385 for our school library.
With the help of many Essex parents and teachers, we ordered 24 new books for our school library!  Titles focused around inclusion and social justice issues.  A complete list and description of each book has been made available on the Essex Parent Council bulletin board outside the main office.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser.  We cannot wait for these amazing books to reach the hands, curiosities, and ever growing minds of our Essex students!
