Hi Parents and Caregivers,
Please find attached the Pizza Lunch Form for 2017-2018. Order forms are due on Friday, Sept. 15 with cash or cheque payable to Essex PS Parent Council.
Note: Volunteers are always needed. Please contact Alana Motta at alanamotta@yahoo.ca if you are able to help out on a Friday for about 30 minutes. We really can’t do it without parent volunteers!
Last year funds raised went toward Scientists in the Classroom, Lice Checks, Yoga in the classroom, Drama in the classroom, Skating and Gym equipment and many more initiatives which enhanced our kids’ experience at Essex.
Rose Reisman Lunch Program
This is an optional hot lunch program and replaces the Real Food for Real Kids program that was available at Essex in 2016-17. With the Rose Reisman program there are a variety of options each day and parents place their orders online through kidslunch.ca. Create your own account and use the Essex school code: EPS53
There is no obligation to continue once you start the program and families are invited to try it out. At this time the program is available three days per week and its continuation or expansion will depend on the level of uptake at Essex. Browse the full menu and see all of the delicious, quality options for yourself.
Lunches will be available starting September 18, 2017 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

X-Country Team
X-Country Running season is back. The Essex-Hawthorne team will be practicing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Monday Sept. 11th at 8:00 am on the track. We encourage all students from grades 1-8 to come and join the team. It is a great way to start the day. The meet will be held on Friday, September 29th at Ashbridges Bay. Permission forms and practice schedule will be available at practice next week.
Please note: For students in grade 1, we recommend that parents plan to attend the first couple of practices and the meet. For students in grades 4-8 we will be practicing both at the track and running to Christie Pits by week 2. If any parents are interested in volunteering either as assistant coaches or to help with collecting and collating permission forms please let us know at practice. We welcome parent involvement on the team!

A Spring Fling Thank You!
A big thanks to the Essex and Hawthorne communities for coming out to Spring Fling and making it the most successful one yet! Thank you also to all the wonderful volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you.
We raised $8,366 without a silent auction which is HUGE!!!!!
As mentioned previously, the money raised at this year’s event will go towards a school set of chrome books, an AC storage cart, and library improvements.
Navigating Healthy Relationships
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share this resource to support “Parent Tips for Navigating Healthy Relationships” with younger children. The target age is for parents of children aged 3-8. I have attached a PDF of the file as well as a link to the page on the TDSB website. Some schools are sharing this resource with parents in their elementary schools prior to the start of summer, and some are planning to use it with incoming JK families. It can also be linked to a school’s Twitter page or website if they are interested.

Bring finger foods if you have them, run the kids in the park and raise a toast to having made it through another school year!
