Essex and Hawthorne are looking for parent volunteers to help with scribing for EQAO. You would work a grade 3 student in the library and help them complete their booklets. We need people Monday May 28th through Wednesday May 30th, 9-10 or 12:40-1:40

The Bake Sale is an integral part of Essex-Hawthorne’s Spring Fling, coming soon on Friday June 1st (3:30 – 7:30 pm). We’re asking, please, for yummy baked good donations (sweet and/or savoury), but most importantly nut free! And if you’re not into baking or pushed for time, please bring store bought goodies, as long as they are nut free (and better still, made in a nut free facility).

Please drop off baked goods on the day of Spring Fling in the Essex office or bring them to the event.

The Garden Club is once again hard at work creating a perennial shade garden beside the bike racks at the front of the school.  If you were busy gardening this past weekend and have any plants at home that you are splitting or need relocating, consider donating them to our school.  We are looking for hostas, brunneras, lily of the valley, shady ground cover and any perennials that like growing under trees!

Please contact jessica.haber@tdsb.on.ca or tanya.bates@tdsb.on.ca to arrange a drop-off time (Thursday morning works best as we meet Thursdays at lunch) and our students will get planting!

Thank you to all the parents who have already offered to volunteer at  Spring Fling, our school’s biggest fundraiser.  We still need about 25 volunteers between 5:30-7:00 pm to fill our volunteer roster. Without these volunteers some activities may need to close early. If you haven’t volunteered for your school this year, now is your chance.

Join us on the morning of May 23rd for our Steel Pan and Band performances in the East Gym.  The concert will begin at approximately 9 a.m.
