Essex PS School Council Meeting Minutes

Business Arising

    Parent Orientation Handbook

Discussion of whether a handbook or brochure about the school could be created to replace some of the paper at the beginning of the year and to promote school spirit.

    Lice checks

The first lice checks by Toronto Public Health went well and there were no cases of lice in the school. Another check is scheduled in March.

    Program booking status – Theatrix and BHM

BHM presentation has been booked and Theatrix is still in progress

    Spirit Wear

Darci gave details of new designs and clothing items for Essex spirit wear. An initial run will cost $400 and will go on sale in March.

Window replacement to take place after March Break will impact classes as they need to move out when the windows are being replaced
– Eco-School Waste Audit completed – Thursday, January 25th

– Essex Grad – Tuesday, June 26th in Gym
– Read, Write Gold school-wide initiative
Training for Staff – Tuesday, December 18th
Training for Students (2 from each class) – Wednesday, December 19th
Parent workshop – tonight – Thursday, January 25, 2018 – at the same time as this
meeting
– Kindergarten Registration Week
February 12 to 15th in the a.m.
Sandy (clerical) and Ms. Costa/Ms. Corcoran to support in the a.m. with the Developmental survey and answer any questions parents may have
Registration can also take place online.
– Parent-Teacher Interviews for Report Card One
Thursday, February 15th in the evening (4:00 – 7:30p)
Friday, February 16th in the morning only
– P.A. day – Friday, February 16th for Parent-Teacher Interviews

Core French Teacher
– Samantha Richardson has gone on maturity leave until 2019
– Have a great difficulty find coverage for this job

Treasurer’s Report

  • Treasurer reported on fundraising and school support expenditures.
  • Pizza day on track to match last year’s revenue.
  • Book sales and spirit wear sales down to date (new spirit wear design forthcoming).
